A History of Microsoft Windows, an operating system

This is a very educational video. It tells the evolution of Windows from Windows 1 to Windows 10. I am unsure when this video was made; it does not discuss Windows 11. The first version of Windows that I remember using was Windows 3.1. It was MS-DOS, then Windows 3.1. I did a Google search on how many PCs run Windows, and the results showed that about 1.4 billion PCs were running Windows worldwide. The search also returned the following: For desktop computers and laptops, Microsoft Windows has 73%, followed by Apple's macOS at 15%, desktop Linux at 4.5% , then Google's ChromeOS at 2.25%). The remaining 4.5% is an unknown category (third-most popular and thought to also be Linux, otherwise fourth-most popular).
Two Very Cool Robots by Engineered Arts

Ameca and Azi are two advanced robots created by Engineered Arts, a British robotics company. While their conversational abilities and facial expressions are astounding, I'm unsure if they can do what Elon Musk's Optimus robots can. The cool thing is you can buy Ameca or Azia. You can buy parts such as the head and upper body or the whole body. I don't know the price, but I know it is expensive and unaffordable for the average person.
My IT Career

Where do I start? First, this is Derrick W. Jackson, founder of Jackson D.W. LLC and creator of the Throughput Digital blog. I have a BS and MS degrees in Computer Science. My BS was in 1993, and I received my MS in 1998. I decided to major in Computer Science in my senior year of high school. I took a computer literacy class and loved it. Note my love for computers began when I was young. My oldest brother had bought me and my twin a Pong game console. Then, years later me and my twin got a Commodore 64 computer for Christmas one year. We also had a Coleco Vision game console. Like many kids today, we loved playing video games. As a senior in high school, it was time to think about my career. I chose the Computer field. I am from Valdosta, Georgia, a small city in South Georgia. It is also very close to the Georgia-Florida line. I applied to Valdosta State University and was accepted. It wasn't easy. Those computer classes, math, and physics were not easy. I had to take a co
5 tips from an NSA Hacker

These are some excellent tips from this former NSA Hacker. When I worked for the government in the 90s, I was also responsible for the software IBM Antivirus. This was way before the Cyber Security training and jobs. It was in the infant stage. Cyber Security is at the top of the list for network security. It is amazing how we went from DOS to Windows 3.1 to Windows 11 and other operating systems. Back then, in the early stages of computing, we never thought that people would hack our computers.

I saw this story months ago before I started this blog. I thought the idea was brilliant, and I hope he succeeds in manufacturing and selling it. This invention can change lives, and I know he can improve it over time. The reporter briefly stated that since the teen was from a third-world country, she hoped his idea would not be stolen. Ideas like that can and will be stolen in the USA, which is a valid concern. No matter what, I hope the young guy continues to work on and improve his invention.
Amazon:The Jeff Bezos Documentary - PBS Frontline

Jeff Bezos's story of Amazon's birth and growth is a great one. His story is inspiring, and this film should be viewed by anyone starting or running a business. This isn't a fluff piece; it describes Amazon's good and bad aspects. I like biographies because many life stories of successful people are encouraging. People like Bezos have laid out the blueprint for others to follow their pathway to success. While this documentary tells of Amazon's rise, I would like to see more of Bezos's life story, including where he was born and who his parents were. His young days and what led to his rise to be the wealthiest man in the world.
Elon Musk's Tesla Optimus Robot

Years ago, I wrote a short story about a robot made by the Ford car company. Now, Tesla and Honda are making robots. It's a logical next step, including driverless cars and buses. Musk states that the price tag of a Tesla robot is about the same as buying a car. The video states that these robots are already being used at Tesla, and I foresee a problem regarding humans having jobs. These robots can replace humans. That changes a lot; we all know these companies put making a profit over their employees. There is an upside to using these robots in places where humans can't go or do things. The video states that they can help a firefighter, do search and rescue, or clear debris from a hurricane or tornado. I foresee this robot being deployed to SpaceX missions. We got Data from Star Trek, after all. Competitors to Tesla's Optimus include a robot created by OpenAI and the company Figure One. As well as Boston Dynamics' Atlas rpbot.
Meta AR Glasses Review

These glasses are a great concept but not ready for the market. From what I saw of the demo, they are similar to Apple's Vision Pro, except they are glasses. I think I know what Zuckerberg and Meta are going for. One question, though: If you need glasses to see, can you still use the AR Glasses? How will it work if you have contacts?
The downfall of FTX and Sam Bankman Fried (SBF)

How could something like the collapse of FTX happen? This gives cryptocurrency a bad name, and I would hesitate to put my money in it. You would think there would be government regulation to prevent something like this. This is old news, but it is a good example of fraud. The founder, Sam Bankman-Fried, or SBF as he is known, wasn't qualified to be in charge of a company like this. All of these Crypto firms need to be monitored to be sure they are on the up and up. A perfect example is the stock market. I'm no pro when it comes to understanding the stock market and trading, but I know enough that there is regulation.

When I was young, AT&T was deemed a monopoly, and it was broken up into the baby bells. Microsoft was also considered a monopoly, but the government failed to break it up. It isn't like the banks, "Too big to fail." A judge has ruled that Google has a monopoly, so it will be interesting to see the outcome of this trial. Google is planning to appeal. I am using Blogger to write his blog, which is owned by Google, so it will be interesting to see the outcome.
New Instagram Child Safety changes

Today's teens are under extra pressure from social media. In a world judged by likes and comments, some may be overwhelmed. The mental health of these young people is important. Imagine in our day the clicks: the jocks, the cheerleaders, the cool kids, the nerds, now it's the social influencers. Do you remember being picked on as a kid? Now, this can be done on social media and through bullying. Then, throw in the child predators scoping out their prey online. This world is challenging enough for kids, and that social media pandora's box has been opened. What can parents do to protect their kids? It's not all bad, though. Social media can be fun, as can watching funny videos and pictures of your family and friends. Also seeing all the talented artists, singers, and dancers. You can even see what your favorite celebrities are up to. Some of them may even like or respond to your comments. How cool is that.
Elon Musk throws his weight behind former president, Donald Trump

Elon Musk has been known for strongly supporting Donald Trump. He has helped Trump's campaign financially and appeared at a rally in Pennsylvania where the first assassination attempt happened. Is this a case of "You scratch my back, and I'll scratch yours?" For those of you who don't know, Elon Musk owns Space X, Tesla, and X formerly known as Twitter. Tech CEOs don't just influence the tech industry; they can influence elections. And being a businessman, he has more sway than a celebrity.

Photo by Ilya Pavlov on Unsplash My name is Derrick W. Jackson. Thank you for taking the time to visit this site. My goal is to talk and write about everything related to tech. I started this blog on October 7, 2024. I want to share my thoughts and ideas concerning the world of Tech. Again, thanks, and I hope to hear from you, good or bad. For now, I think of a subject, search YouTube for a corresponding video, post the video on my blog, and then explain it. In the future, I want to record my own videos and write my own technical articles. I would love to know what you think of the videos I pick and the summary I write for them. Also, what tech topics would you like to see. So please leave comments.
